Young the Giant Concert at Schubas
I’ve been listening to Young the Giant for a a while now. I first heard “I Got” on The Hype Machine and loved it right away. It was one of their first to songs released, the other being “My Body,” which has gained popularity through The Hype Machine. When I heard that they were going to open for Neon Trees in my town, I was stoked. I ended up not going. Yeah, kick me in the nuts, I was upset. Young the Giant is a growing-in-popularity fast kind of band, having just finished touring with Neon Trees. All band members are from Orange County where they have been playing music together since high school. On tour now, Young the Giant is promoting their new self-titled first album, Young the Giant. Fast forward January and I’m halfway back in a crowd at Schubas in Chicago, listening to The Pomegranates, psyched to see Young the Giant perform next. On a side note, I have to give props to the opening bands The Pomegranates and Moxie Motive. Both bands played great sets. Back to the story. You know those bands that sounds great on a recording, but really suck it up when you hear them live? Young the Giant is not one of those bands. They are amazing live. Even better in my opinion. The show was fantastic and the energy on the backroom stage at Schubas was on fire. Here is a clip of Young the Giant performing “I’ve Got” at the Schubas concert:
Here are a few more songs from Young the Giant that will really get you digging these guys. If you want more, you can check out their Daytrotter sessions, which are also available for download.
