New Music! New Reb – More Music Less TV

I got backstage passes to Slightly Stoopid’s Seedless Summer Tour last Saturday in Chicago. It was amazing to meet all the bands I’ve been listening to for years now. It was also great to meet all the other people that hang out backstage with the rockstars. One such person was Drew Misik, lead singer for New Reb, “a conscious, Roots Rock/ Hip-Hop band out of Minneapolis, Mn.” I snagged a promo disc and, after listening through it a couple times that day, have become a big fan. I’ve always loved the beachy-reggae vibe and the atmosphere and people that come along with it. Very chill, very laid back. New Reb sounds a lot like Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, and The Dirty Heads – which makes sense as Lewis Richards, producer for “Lay Me Down” by the The Dirty Heads & Rome, produced the songs for New Reb.

“New Reb has played 10,000 Lakes Festival, Harvest Festival, Bella Madre Festival, Project Earth Festival and will be expanding more into the greater festival circuit in the summer of 2011. New Reb has shared stages with or worked w/ Matisyahu, Xavier Rudd, Groundation, Culture, Blue King Brown, Trevor Hall, Wookiefoot, The Dirty Heads, Dessa, P.O.S., and many more.” Check out the songsĀ  and video below and if you like them as much as I did, you can purchase New Reb’s new album, More Music Less TV, here.

[Updated 9/9/11: Good Feeling and Slow It Down are from the band Stone Ave. I accidentally attirubted them to New Reb. I apologize for the mislead and the songs are still available below the video.]

Below are two songs from Stone Ave., a Costa Mesa, Ca based band that is close with New Reb. Great songs that I wanted to share.
