I read a quote a while back that I once in a while return to when life gets challenging and obstacles seem to obstruct my view. That quote was simple but profound: “Life is the hardest teacher, it gives the test first and the lesson after.” I sort of fell in love with that idea, really believing that life is meant to be lived and that true wisdom comes from the lessons learned along the way. And while SOHN‘s “Lessons” is about a relationship gone sour, love is just another lesson we are taught along the way. Twenty-three year old German producer Moglebaum has chosen to use his electronic music and acoustic instrumentation skills to re-interpret the original and embrace the lessons learned – a 180 degree perspective on the protagonist of SOHN’s official video for the track, who appears to be running away from the problem. Featuring the melodic violin work of Tonio Geugelin and dripping synths from Simon Ebener-Holscher, Moglebaum weaves a beautiful tapestry of hope for those stuck in the middle of the teacher’s test.
