Black Matter & Designer Drugs – Double Vision Feat. Cerebral Vortex by BLACK MATTER

The last time Designer Drugs was in Chicago, they played to a sold out show at the always crazy Congress Theater with none other than Flux Pavilion and Doctor P. Last Saturday, Designer Drugs returned to Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago for the second stop of their Sex Cult Initiation Tour. This time around they brought along their own massively talented crew of DJs and producers to round out their show. Who exactly? Well, I’m glad you asked. How does Black Matter, PLS DNT STP, and Gemini Club sound to you? Because it sounds like one crazy night of nonstop electro/dubstep goodness to me.

We arrived to the show at just the right time Saturday night. Reggie’s Rock Club was just beginning to liven up, but not to full to jump around and talk to some people. The music was already off to a great start with Gemini Club and PLS DONT STP spinning some great jams to warm the crowd up for what was to be a massive show. It was during this time that I ran into Jesse Jamz, aka Black Matter, from Sex Cult Records. Super down to earth guy who’s doing some big things right now (check out my interview with Black Matter). After ducking into the green room and meeting some of the rest of the tour group, it was time to head to the bar and take in some of the amazing beats.

I ended the night jumping around onstage with the Sex Cult crew snapping pictures of just about everything and generally just living in the moment. For any regular concert goer, there are always those times when you just get so hooked in by the music and the moment that you almost forget some of the experience the next day. That was my experience at Reggie’s that night. Designer Drugs absolutely killed their set, tearing into their massively insane set of electro bangers. Ending the night on stage was Sex Cult’s first member, Black Matter, who tore down what was left of the house. They had to shut the place down after he was done (I swear it wasn’t just the 2AM closing time).

All in all, the Sex Cult crew had an absolutely amazing night at a shoulder-to-shoulder Reggie’s Rock Club and left Chicago with no doubt that they are a force to be reckoned with. Props to all those guys and good luck on the rest of their tour. You can peep some of the pictures from the show below and view full album on our Facebook page. Enjoy!
