La Roux’s world is an anomaly in the music industry: no one turns desperation into a badge of honor at her caliber.  Even when her lyrics wrangle with self-flagellation, she still always remembers that her core is a pretty kickass woman, worthy of respect. It gives all of her music the confidence to scale the slippery, icy peaks of the Mt. Everest in your inner mind and the strength of a Sherpa guide to lead you the fuck out. Still, I vastly prefer her remixed, because she always leaves spaces in her music for drama and flair. See the Skream remix of ‘In For The Kill’; and this take on ‘Let Me Down Gently’ by DSK CHK. DSK CHK adds exciting, dramatic bombast amidst pounding synths that feel like a perfect re-imagination of the original.  I have absolutely no idea why the Playless remix is catching fire while this one isn’t, so….
