It was a cold, drunken Saturday night as Sound Remedy and I rolled around downtown Chicago looking for a parking spot to the after hours shindig. Coming straight from his performance at The Bottom Lounge with Chicago duo Milk N Cookies, we were ready to hit the town, even if it was in his mom’s 4 door sedan. It’s always a great experience being able hang out with the artists you’ve become friends with over the years, taking advantage of the couple of nights a year they play shows in your city. Naturally, we got to talking about music when Sound Remedy dropped a hint that he would be releasing a bouncy new mix for his fans soon. Well, that remix is officially out, and it comes in the form of a bouncy, trap infused remix of John Newman‘s popular single “Love Me Again”. The signature Sound Remedy synths are back in the mix here, though a bit dialed back to make room for the bass heavy, trapped out drop. The juxtaposition of Newman’s crooner vocals butted up against Sound Remedy’s modern day trap sounds create an interesting tension that combines a mix of old and new – a tension that I am thoroughly enjoying.
