Chicago has stepped up it’s festival game once again with the inaugural production of Mamby On The Beach. Seems as soon as I left the city the crew over at React Presents decided to curate a festival directly after my taste. You might almost get me to move back. Almost.

Taking place on Chicago’s pristine Oakwood Beach, Mamby is being unofficially touted as a replacement for the now defunct Wavefront Festival. If the lineup is any indication of what’s in store for the weekend, then festival attendees should have no qualms for the 2-day fest. With indie-pop rockstars Empire Of The Sun (whose live show is unparalleled and not to be missed!), Passion Pit, Phantogram, Cut Copy, and Royksopp set to headline, the festival is definitely catering to a less EDM-heavy crowd as a counter-point to React Presents’ recent Spring Awakening Festival. That’s not to say there won’t be an abundance of curated electronic sounds however, as the deep cuts will be provided by the likes of James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Art Department, ZHU, Goldroom, Moon Boots, and Robert Delong.

As always, there will be plenty of amazing local Chicago talent as well. Two performances you will definitely want to check out: Autograf and Louis The Child. Coming off spectacular new releases, these Chicago acts are garnering an incredible amount of praise. Other local talent that will be putting on amazing performances will be The Pool House crew, Steve Gerard, NORDJS, and Dustin Sheridan.
