Over the past few months a small group of taste makers have been organizing a pop up event, occurring this Saturday September 10th, that aims to open up creative networks between the art, music & fashion industries of Chicago. This event, known simply as The Launchhas been collecting like-minded artistic entrepreneurs together, to create a stress free environment where all can network and connect in new ways. The creators, TEHJ Tribe and Good Looks Chicago, want to give back to these industries by allowing them to market themselves and interact with different populations that otherwise would be inaccessible to them. The idea is to create new relationships and bring the city’s artists together, regardless of what mediums they perform on or with.  This is especially important when you consider the state of Chicago and it’s reputation for segregation between artistic audiences.
The Launch is proposed to occur three times a year, utilizing a different charitable fundraiser at each event. This Saturday the Lupus Foundation of America will be the direct recipient of 10% of all accrued ticket costs. The donation will be made in the attendee’s name, whether it be a company or personal identification. This aspect of the event is especially important. It really builds on the good nature of the event itself. It seems the whole goal here is to bring people of different artistic disciplines together to create something bigger than themselves.
Another big piece of this paciferous puzzle is the inclusion of Chicago Fashion Week via FashionBar and Akira which has been trying to create an increased presence in Chicago for years. While Miami, New York, and Los Angeles have major fashion week events, Chicago has been struggling to stay up to par despite its excellent fashion sense and unique urban style. This partnership could really change the face of the Chicago fashion industry as it will connect with multiple other groups that utilize fashion as a main facet of their image.
