Greg Paulus and Nick DeBruyn, AKA No Regular Play, have produced an incredibly danceable album that splits the difference between Nu-Disco funkishness and deep, sexy house. The title track, “Endangered Species,” depicts this balancing quite well – excellent high pitched squelch synths into straight classic house vocals. Plus it’s based on Bald Eagles, ‘Merica! The other highlight for me is “Card Game,” which will be about every fourth song I mix with for a while. They’re fast becoming made NYC scenesters; for instance, their appearance today on Beats In Space in support of an upcoming European tour. Massive.
