If only we could get out of here, we could get something going. This place, it’s keeping us ‘half awake and almost dead’. Muted, our emotions cry for the edge of night, towards a horizon line where the fires burn bright. Ostensibly, we should be able to find life anywhere, but the stillness of this constancy, and every dark thought spawned by it leaves us afresh with an ‘aching to breathe’. We tried, but we’re dreamers, and this place has us spinning our wheels in purgatory.

We could ‘try and re-invent’ ourselves, and ‘feed the hand of common sense’; but all that’d do is leave us ‘climbing up the walls’ with no end, all that ‘time and energy’ spent just futilely trying to reawaken what won’t any longer stir. We want to throw our minds into disparate thoughts and abnormal worlds and let our intuition grab for the lifejackets that will keep us afloat, the docks that will harbor us. But this place is built with strict geometries.

Commonness breeds the ‘fears that won’t subside’ about all the things we want to do. It’s time for ‘hearts like ours’ to leave this place behind, and start over.
