[INDIE/ROCK] The Peach Kings - "Be Around"

Look up LA based duo The Peach Kings in a dictionary and chances are you’ll find them next to the words gritty, sultry and eerily sexy. Nevermind that those words all begin with different letters and could be pages apart in said dictionary (stop thinking so hard). I first fell in like with the indie rock pair back when they released their swamp rock single “Thieves and Kings“, and the two have since put out a number of tracks that will live on their upcoming EP, Mojo Thunder. Now the couple return with the gritty, somewhat psychedelic single “Be Around,” which is accompanied by the official video directed by Paul Trillo. The video, using double exposure in a novel way, captures the duality and movement of the song’s themes within each frame – themes that play with the dichotomous, sometimes backstabbing nature of human beings as well as the distances we sometimes let grow between us as we move forward with our lives.

“…[It] takes elements from the song such as being on the move with a growing distance between people, and the combination of melodic singing with distorted 60s guitar,” says director Paul Trillo. “All these things made it into the pot and got stirred around… The double exposure technique I think works well with the themes in the song since it’s about saying one thing and doing something else. The more truthful thoughts are usually held within and we have trouble letting them out.”

Did I mention the video is super trippy, amazingly creative and has been selected as a Vimeo “Staff Pick”? Check it out below and enjoy.
