Let’s be honest. We’ve all been here before. I remember starting my foggy mornings looking out my window and watching the ends of my cigarette light up; feeling a burning sensation in the back of my throat. It hurt so good feeling my smoke filled lungs. When I couldn’t suck in anymore smoke, I’d open my mouth and feel the smoke crawl out of my throat on its own. This idea of breathing in this temporary bliss and just as easily letting it go on its own choosing made me envy smoke. Its a tough world out there when you have a mutually shared intimacy with whoever, then a switch flips and you’re trying everything you’ve got to keep them you’re left feeling— well, drowned.

Lido just steps in producing the right beat that accompanies all the stages of realization, regret, and desperate hopeless loss. A brief series of light-hearted kicks starts off the song, just to build to a mysteriously ominous bass synth making you question what the fuck just happened? The time of claps and kicks every half beat force you to remember all of the feels you had when you were watching everything fall through your fingers. Then as you’re watching everything fall to the ground, the piano kicks in and it slows it down as if you’re on the last straw mustering the last bit of strength saying, “are you with it or not?”

Norway based artist Peder Losnegård, also known as Lido, has been dropping hit after hit on Soundcloud which makes it hard to believe that he’s in his early twenties. Starting on the piano, Peder listened to hip-hop music which eventually influenced him to create melodic builds and unique sounds.
