Dan Croll’s Thalia Hall show was very music focused.  Nothing too flashy or distracting.  Everyone there was very attentive and seemed to hang on every note.  This may have been from the intimate notes he created.  It may have also been the fact that it was only a 30 minute show.  The world may never know.

During the show Dan and his two accompanying musicians played on stage like you would imagine three very talented close friends would practice in a garage together. Smiles were passes between them like silent memories as they created music together, totally engrossed in the songs.

Accompanied by guitar, piano, organ, among other instruments Dan Croll has an updated Paul Simon-like sound.  One person asked me if he was featured in a commercial and why his music sounded so familiar.  I had to check into that and found that his song “No Place Like Your Home” was in fact featured on a HomeGoods TV commercial recently.  But even without having seen the commercial, Dan’s live sound had a simple, comfortable tone that left me feeling very relaxed.
