East India Youth

Here at Sights and Sounds, we love East India Youth a.k.a William Doyle. Total Strife Forever topped our British and Irish Albums of 2014 list. So you can’t imagine how excited we are to relay the news that Culture of Volume will be released by the prestigious XL Recordings on 06 April 2015 (07 in US).

Mostly recorded and produced in his bedroom at home in London, and named after a fragment of verse from the poem ‘Monument’ by Rick Holland, Culture of Volume was mixed by Graham Sutton, with the artwork  created by visual artist Dan Tombs. The full track-listing is as follows:

01 THE JUDDERING
02 END RESULT
03 BEAMING WHITE
04 TURN AWAY
05 HEARTS THAT NEVER
06 ENTIRETY
07 CAROUSEL
08 DON’T LOOK BACKWARDS
09 MANNER OF WORDS
10 MONTAGE RESOLUTION

We heard the debut outing of “Carousel” during EIY’s last London show at Heaven, and it’s another heart-wrenching ballad that moves the spirit. A great omen for the record.

You can preorder the album here. There are a limited 100 signed vinyl and 50 signed CDs from the EIY shop. Below, watch EIY talk about the future of the project:

Saam Idelji Like Tom from 500 Days of Summer, I spent a lot of my youth listening to sad British pop music, and now, I write as a UK Contributor for The Sights and Sounds about the music I love (be it melancholic or not). Also a medical student in South London. Favourite album: Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express
