I love perfect timing, don’t you?! I mean, it really is one of the best parts of living, when the timing of things just lines up in the right way. Well, today is one of those instances, as it is Friday and we’ve been given a perfect collection of songs to see us into the weekend and beyond. I present to you the brand new EP titled SUN that just dropped last night from French producer NEUS. The 6 track EP, released on label imprint Fuck The Sound Records, hasn’t even been out a full 24 hours and has already gotten almost 16K plays.

From the moment I clicked play, from the first track to the last, I was continuously impressed with the variation of nu-disco, classic disco, funk, and tropical sounds that I was hearing. The “Discokiller” track is a perfect tone for the EP, bringing us onto the dance floor with Chromeo-like synths, funky 70’s guitar licks, and a driving beat. Featuring some stellar guest vocalists like Andrew Hunt, Daphne Khoo, and Gio Levy, this EP is on point and simply refreshing. I really like when an artist includes other people in their mixes because it really helps differentiate each track from one another, giving them all a different color and flavor.

Making his debut in 2010, Gael has taken on the moniker NEUS for his climb up the electro/bass/nu-disco scene with a series of quality tracks and remixes reaching countless fans around the world. Born in the best year ever…1989, the French producer is now inspired by a collection of acoustic instruments such as guitar, drums, and keys, which are key to his productions. In late 2012 he created the label Fuck The Sound Records, an association of international underground artists, in order to distribute their projects on digital platforms.

My personal favorites off this EP include “Hold On To It (feat. Andrew Hunt)” and “Discokiller (feat. Andrew Hunt).” I don’t know, maybe I just like the collaboration between the vocalist and NEUS in these two tracks, but I’m hoping they continue to make music together. Stream the whole thing below and enjoy your weekend!
