No matter your listening-occasion this summer the LA-based duo Peaking Lights aka Indra Dunis and Aaron Coyes have got you covered.

In the duo’s fifth album release of The Fifth Consciousness, the two expand sonically and thematically, repurposing the quintessential psych-disco pop they’ve become widely known for.

Delve deep into the depths of psychedelic disco pop on this record’s 80-minute journey inward. One frontman Aaron Coyes described as such,

“[It’s] A journey through an alien landscape where the dream world tells stories of lost innocence, finding strength and seeking an enlightened state of being after trials and tribulations all wrapped up in two syrupy dubbed to the bone Balearic pancakes sprinkled with powdered psychedelia.” 

The Fifth State of Consciousness is a window into the minds of two detailed-oriented souls, whose knack for thoughtful curation and creation yields an absolutely contagious feel-good stream of tunes. The Fifth State of Consciousness is a love letter to diverse musical infatuations, a record that contains multitudes, encompassing not only psychedelic music, but house, electronic, and even dubbed-reggae. While the tracks are bound together by a magical thread of continuity, seemingly flowing into one another if the listener allows them, they too, stand tall on their own.

Describing the music himself as “Dreamfuzz” Aaron considers it to be, “a small junkyard with many happy mistakes”. Through his use of dated tape machines, writing melodies backward and then playing them in reverse, a uniquely layered project has been born.
