“Maqam” is the system of melodic modes used in traditional Arabic music.

Yusuf|ER’s (as his friends like to call him) sounds can be described as ominous, chunky, dynamic and organically soulful. Influenced by trance’s epic electronic melodies, from Steve Lawler’s embryonic sounds to Sander Klienenberg’s defining synths, and later a conglomerate of producers such as Adriatique, Butch, Lawler, &Me, Dubfire, and Ame, Yusuf’s music can be enjoyed just as much on the home stereo as well as in any club. Check out his 2-hour+ long epic below, curated for Kuwaiti music blog, Get Out.
