To be honest, I think I’ve heard way too many remixes of Coldplay. It’s not that I dislike them, or most of the mixes that come from them, it’s just that Coldplay seems to be the default band for any new producer trying to put out a remix, and most of the time it doesn’t lend itself to any new creative sounds. Generic electro-house abounds in this respect, which is why I was pleasantly surprised with the mellowed out trance vibes coming from UK-based producer Simon Patterson‘s remix of “See You Soon”. Mellowed out is an ambiguous term here as Simon’s 8.5 minute update ebbs and flows through melodic synths, reverbed vocals and a driving bassline. Flirting the line between a morning sunrise and a night out, Simon’s mix sits somewhere in the greyish-blue hue that comes with the start of a new day – depending on what side of it you’re on, it can be both energetic and relaxing. Listen and enjoy below.
