“We promised one more surprise before the year is over, and here it is,” Vallis Alps announced yesterday on their Instagram.

Parissa Tosif and David Ansari, who make up the Australian group, made the move to celebrate the first day of December by releasing a new single, “So Settled,” which is now available everywhere. A few months prior they put out “Oceans,” which has notably similar artwork. It seems like this could be signaling more to come for their third body of music.

“So Settled” stays true to the duo’s signature electronic style that’s been winning hearts over the past two years, but turns up the BMP a few notches. The immediate and quick-paced beat sets up contrasted, emotional lyrics. Tosif’s chorus touches on the notion that time runs slow as we are always walking towards the end, while the tune remains upbeat for three minutes. In its entirety, “So Settled” has an acoustic sound that does a really good job complimenting her voice.

“So Settled is the result of pushing our musical boundaries and shows an attitude shift in our writing process,” they posted. “When writing the Fable EP, we tried really hard to represent musical ideas that were almost fully formed in our heads. But with So Settled, as with our recent song Oceans, we tried to let go of those expectations and allow the song to go where it wanted.”
