Ebb and flow, defined as a recurrent or rhythmical pattern of coming and going or decline and regrowth, is a complex, yet truly necessary aspect of all of our lives. It’s also unavoidable. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you look like, you’re going to have good days and bad days. You’re going to feel on top of the world sometimes and other times you’re going to hide from it. As much as we’d like to think we can intricately control our lives to achieve success, perfection, safety, ultimate convenience, etc., there will always be nature and elements in this world beyond our control.

With “Chants” by Jesper Ryom, we’re slowly drawn into an eight minute journey that does plenty of ebbing and flowing. The track has been on repeat for the last month for me. Whenever I find myself really getting lost in the track, I couldn’t help but think of ebb and flow and how patterns are a huge part of life. Songs like this are the perfect soundtrack to life sometimes. The perfect sound to accompany the waterfalls we come across, the hurdles we jump over, and the lessons we learn along the way. I honestly can’t believe this song doesn’t have more listens on Soundcloud. This track was my first introduction to Jesper Ryom and after listening to his older releases, I can clearly see that he’s on an awesome path towards creating a sound that is uniquely his. Tune in below and enjoy your ebbs and flows people, it’s all a part of the ride.
