As the tenth annual Lightning in a Bottle music and arts festival draws ever closer and our excitement grows ever deeper, the transformational fest has two major announcements to reign in the home stretch: The Village speaker lineup and The Temple of Consciousness pre-event In Los Angeles.

The Village Speaker Lineup

The Village is a place where festival goers can gather to learn about traditional earth-based knowledge and skills and how to honor and integrate them into modern life. It is a self-proclaimed home away from home, where all are welcomed and are given the opportunity to connect with each other and the sacred land on which we gather. The theme for The Village this year is “Home is Where Our Stories Live.” Coming from a storytellers perspective, I couldn’t be more excited to take part and experience the living embodiment of this concept.

The Village features an array of inspirational speakers, such as Wind Creek Yavapai elder Grandmother Marza Millar, one of the last grandmothers of the Wind Creek Yavapai in Sedona, Arizona, as well as activist and alchemical healing teacher Kalita Todd who will share her 45 years of experience in the organic farm and food co-op movements and how to affect change. In addition, The Village will play host to a variety of speakers and teachers, including Erik Davis, Elizabeth Dougherty, Jennifer Dumpert, Justin Veris, Jai Dev Singh, La Gilman, Naha Amady, Special Blackburn, Ryan Roots Rising, Eve Bradford, Isis Indriya, Kara Seymour, Zeile August Dougher, Schirin Diba, Jim Kane, Olaf Vali Duna, Judicael Vales, Kris D, Gina Marie, Natalia Price, Lief Wold, Monica Satos “Magick”, Aradia Sunseri, I.Am.Life Tea Service, and Sound is Medicine with Priya D. Mohan.

Temple of Consciousness Pre-Vvent

Bringing the Lightning In A Bottle experience to LA for the first time, the event has announced the inaugural Lucent Temple of Consciousness pre-event on May 3rd at The Springs in downtown Los Angeles. This isn’t your run of the mill pre-event, however, touting a 12-hour urban retreat offering a glimpse into the sacred Temple areas, which seeks to create transformative experiences through holistic lectures, workshops, yoga and movement, food, art and live performance.

Festivities will commence at 11 a.m. as Pluma, the Mistress of Ceremony, welcomes participants at the Opening Ceremony, followed by nutrition authority speaker David Avocado Wolfe. Yogis Mark Whitwell and Micheline Berry will gracefully loosen up the limbs before engaging movement and musical performances from the likes of Lucent Dossier Experience with Jen Shields, Maggie Lally & Alicia Marie; a DJ set from Shamans Dream, Fernando Bright Feathers, INGA, and Aya Serpent. The sustainability panel will include CEO and co-founder of Thrive Market, Gunnar Lovelace, California Baby founder Jessica Iliscoy, and Joey Mendelson, product manager at Ecofilter and founder of Eco Superheroes. Workshops and classes will be taught by Eva Clay, Robert Kandell, Michael Brian Baker, Miranda Rondeau, Wilpower, Francini, TIJAE, Zat Baraka & Joanne Ameya Cohen, and Naada Guerra & Gianna de la Torre and will culminate in a special sunset talk from Lucent Dossier’s own Dream Rockwell. Curated by the Do Art Foundation, visual artists Aly Timbuctustate, Deanna Graves, Jordan Nice, Radhika Hersey, Jef Logan, and Griffin One will adorn the event grounds to add an extra layer of visual stimuli while roaming performers, dancers, and vendors add to the ambiance.

To purchase tickets for the May 3rd pre-event, head to their Facebook and RSVP on the event page.
