We’ve all partied a little too hard to LMFAO‘s tracks over the last few years, but that time seems to be coming to a close as the party-rock group announced that they will be splitting up earlier today.

“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” the 37-year-old son of Motown founder Berry Gordy revealed. The other half of LMFAO, 26-year-old SkyBlu is Redfoo’s nephew, but apparently the family ties aren’t keeping them from going off in “different directions.”

“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” Redfoo revealed. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”

Don’t get too down, however, as Redfoo is not going to stop making great party music. “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish,” he admitted. “I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”
