Christian Arno

The Toronto-based independent label All Blak Records has introduced its second EP in 2015, and this one is a smashing techno compilation. Christian Arno might not yet be a household name, but his debut “South Central” EP promises great things for the Ottawa native.

The first title track is a groovy blend of techno beats and underlying instrumental chords that would seem at home in a trendy ultra lounge–men sipping martinis seducing exotic women in satin dresses to the rhythmical background noise. Mirroring the progression of this night, “South Central” leads the way into the faster-paced “Big Bully.” At this point the atmosphere has loosened up and that electric charge hangs in the air of the club, the one that seems almost impermeable right before the percussion drives the whole place into a frenzy.

Christian drives his premiere outing home with a remix of the previous track by fellow All Blak labelist Anything Else, which is a perfect dance-worthy spin on the original to get tired clubgoers back on their feet. Just in case you can’t make it to Ibiza this season (and even if you can), press play on the South Central EP and enjoy the ride.
