[THE DAILY SWIM] Oh Wonder – “Body Gold” (Louis The Child Remix)
Welcome to The Daily Swim, a running series on The Sights and Sounds. As a daily swimmer, water has always served as a dichotomy to my psyche – wholly and unswervingly calming in it’s vast simplicity yet at the same time able to harness and create massive amounts of energy. Which is exactly the type of music The Daily Swim will feature – no fuss posts with tracks from great artists that serve as both calming and energizing to get you through the deep end of your day.
Anticipation. My body tenses as I suck in my last breathe before the cold water engulfs me in it’s chilling grip. Move your arms, kick your feet I tell me numb limbs, as my nerves fight the urge to turn concrete. I dive head first into the water, embracing what I know will be a somewhat unpleasant experience to reap the rewards of what comes next. We’ve all felt that knot in our stomachs before, perhaps before a big interview or first date. That feeling of brash nervousness as our adrenaline surges. I imagine the feeling is mutual in athletes and drug addicts alike – they have something in common after all. Anticipation seems to make the experience all the sweeter though, as in Louis The Child‘s latest remix of Oh Wonder. The track drips with sultry vocals and synths as the hesitant bass pulls you forward in anticipation and simultaneous gratification. It’s a push and pull of momentum that embodies what The Daily Swim is all about – check it out below.
