[FESTIVAL PREVIEW] The Top 5 Reasons We Are Going To SXM Festival This Year

The debut of SXM Music Festival last year was a tremendous success. The St. Martin music festival features sandy beaches, a wide range of talent, and a plethora of techno-obsessed festival goers. Last year we saw Dubfire, Patrick Topping, and Jamie Jones take the stage in the middle of the carribean.

“It was our hope to craft a lineup that reflected the talents of both men and women from across all corners of the globe and bring them to the oasis of St. Martin for a totally unique dance music experience like none other.” says SXM founder Julian Prince. Prince, true to his word, curated a lineup of artists spanning multiple genres and hailing from all over the globe.

This years phase one announcement features Bob MosesNina Kraviz, and Richie Hawtin among others.

If you’re a fan of sandy beaches and world class techno, do yourself a favor and book a flight to St. Martin. Like… right now. Below are five major reasons that we won’t be missing SXM 2017.

The Sandy Beaches

Picture this. You wake up around mid day after spending the entire night dancing your ass off on the Dutch side of St. Martin (The island is small enough that you actually will spend the day time dancing on the French side but late nights will be spent on the Dutch side.) On your half hungover half still energized from last night zombie walk you’ll get to take in the pristine St. Martin coastline as the warm sand rubs the bottom of your feet. Not a bad way to get to a Richie Hawtin set if you ask me. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a plane a mere fifty feet above your head.

It’s A (Relatively) Cheap Vacation

At 325 euros for General admission and 575 for VIP, you’re getting a powerful bargain for a five day festival. Not to mention the hotel suites and villas are priced very reasonably – some of the villas are as cheap as 70 dollars per night per person. Check out hotels and villas here.

The Vibe Is Unmatched

When people talk about festivals they often talk about the vibe of the festival itself. But what is “the vibe”? The vibe is what makes a good festival a tremendous festival. It’s what gets you to pay for the expensive plane ticket out there. It’s what turns late nights into early mornings. The vibe of the festival is crucial and SXM festival definitely has the vibe. Waking up to sandy beaches and catching the sunrise on the golden coastline definitely helps, but it’s really the people that make SXM Festival so special. Smiling faces, dancing feet, and wonderful beats will energize and inspire you.

Incredible Weather

With clear blue skies and an average temperature of 84 degrees SXM Festival is the perfect escape from the dreary slush that is better known as “March on the East Coast.” Bleh. Everyone needs some time away from the bitter cold, it’s better that you get to hear a little techno on your getaway.

The Talent

SXM Festival has one of the most diverse bills for electronic festivals in 2017. The lineup features techno heavy weights like The Martinez Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, and Nina Kraviz. But it doesn’t stop there. Acts like Skream and &me provide the lineup with depth. A club set from Bob Moses is just what we need to get our sensual fix. Jamie Jones, Lee K, Moody Jones, Soul Clap and Tara Brooks will also be gracing us with their presence. In short, this is one of the best lineups of the year.
