My ears have been everywhere from acoustic covers to banging electro house sounds over the past few days, but there’s been one track that I just haven’t been able to pry off my speakers this week. Not that I’ve been putting much effort into the endeavor – in fact, I’m probably encouraging it’s play more than anything – but FlicFlac and Bearson’s tropically vibed remix of “Pictures” has been latched onto my brain like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm. Yeah, it’s that good.
English singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich may not be terribly well known in the electronic community, but that should all change thanks to Austrian duo FlicFlac and Norwegian native Bearson. The trio has indulged the original track with a sunny, tropical vibe and a driving house beat that waxes summer all day long. And for someone stuck in the 47th Polar Vortex in Chicago, I’ll take all the summer I can get. The sound is reminiscent of some of Kygo’s remix work – a comparison I’m not at all mad to make – and just adds to the chilled out vibes present.
