There are some hot things happening in Chicago at the moment, and I’m not just talking about the temperatures finally breaking 70 degrees for the first time this year. Yes, Chicago has officially joined summer, having made the un-Democratic decision to just forego spring altogether. It makes me feel like dancing all the way to work – and perhaps I have pulled a move once or twice on the El train commute. It’s a bit hard to contain myself though, when the weather not only puts you in a good mood, but you also have uber-talented Chicago producers cranking out shimmering, dance-floor gold.
Ready to grab summer by the horns, and the United States for that matter, comes Italian producer duo Freak Island. Combining the talents of DJs Kalta & Lorenzo, these two recent Chicago transplants have taken the city by storm and have made some noise in the process. And that noise comes in the form of their debut release with the high energy, dance remix of Borgeous‘ “Invincible”. Sounding like a smash up between The Knocks and Skrillex, their bouncy, nu disco synths and soaring vocals combine with electronic bleeps and bloops to create a summer dance-anthem prepped for the beach.
