Meet QT, and prepare yourself for potentially the earworm of the year.
SOPHIE, Britain’s most enigmatic producer, has been playing a track in his hyper-surreal DJ sets, which features the refrain “Hey cutie, yeah, even though you’re so far away, I feel your hands on my body every time you think of me”. With its sugar-sweet, maximally modulated vocals and future bass production, it is the “most-SOPHIE” song he plays.
But now after a tweet from SOPHIE just this afternoon, it appears that ‘Hey QT’ may come from the minds at A.G Cook’s P.C. Music label, 2014’s most divisive and enigmatic label, which has brought you the likes of A.G. Cook, Tielsie and Hannah Diamond. Details are sparse regarding exactly who is in involved but in line with much of the viral promotion that P.C. Music specialise in, a dedicated .GIF inspired website has been set up- where you can find a Soundcloud link to a 21 second teaser of QT’s début offering.
But here at The Sights and Sounds we have heard the full track thanks to a YouTube clip of a SOPHIE set for #JustJam. QT’s song starts at the 15-minute mark exactly:
