Talented vocalist Valerie Lighthart recently breathed new life into her vibrant 2018 single release “Mean to Me” by releasing unique electronic remixes with three separate talented electronic producers. Each remix features a singular perspective on the original; the tandem of remixes forms the sundry Mean to Me (Remixes). The three remixes highlight the core style elements of the respective artists yet each remix contains enticing innate elements that make each composition stand out.
One of the three remixes is a collaboration with talented budding producer MIDNIGHT CVLT. The perfect amalgamation of light and dark elements, MIDNIGHT CVLT’s heavy trap and bass perspective on the original is gritty and hard-hitting while remaining true to some of the brighter elements of the track including the melody and vocals.
MIDNIGHT CVLT had this to say regarding the release of his new collaboration: “Working on this remix has been super fun. I was amazed by the vocal the first time I got to hear it. The original track feels so elegant and quiet, so I thought to make the opposite. Trap beats and crunchy basses – worked very well with Valerie’s voice. Definitely my favorite so far.”
