I come from a huge musical background which began and developed while I listened to classical music and practiced my saxophone years ago. Although I haven’t listened to the likes of Beethoven or Bach as much recently, I love when groups return to classical roots to make something new. And that is exactly what Basement Jaxx did, teaming up with a Dutch Orchstral Group, the Metropole Orkest, for a concert in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Jaxx will take recordings from that concert along with studio recordings and combine them on a new album entitled Jaxx Vs. Metropole Orkest, due to be released July 11 on Basement Jaxx’s Atlantic Jaxx record label.

From Pitchfork.com, “On the album, the 60-piece orchestra and a 20-voice choir perform versions of tracks from the Basement Jaxx back catalog as well as an original piece by Jaxx member Felix Buxton. It also includes guest singers like the Bellrays’ Lisa Kekaula on “Good Luck” and Sharlene Hector on “Lights Go Down”.”
