It’s time to rejoice.

Well, at least for Radiohead fans living in the continental United States. The great news is that Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner will likely be coming to a city near you within the next few weeks. The trio, going under the moniker, The Smile, are deciding to hit the road, embarking on an expansive tour across North America. From November 28th to December 1st, the tour will also cater to its passionate midwestern fanbase, including stops at Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit, Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, and Riviera Theatre in Chicago.

Coming off the success of their critically-acclaimed 2022 debut release, A Light for Attracting Attention, the 22-date run will mark the first time that US-based fans will get to experience selections from the album in-person.

And while this is not the first time that members of Radiohead have toured their solo and side projects, this one in particular is drawing rave reviews from both fans and critics alike. After rating it an impressive 8.6/10, Pitchfork has considered the Nigel Godrich-produced album “instantly, unmistakably the best album yet by a Radiohead side project. Rolling Stone’s Kory Grow has stated that the album “contains some of the songwriters’ most easily enjoyable music in years” after giving it a four out of five star review. Additionally, Rough Trade recently added the project to their “Album Of The Year 2022” list, helping it maintain #1 in the US and #2 in the UK. Given the positive reception that the album has attracted, the band has also been scheduled to perform selections on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this Thursday, November 17th.

This thirteen-song album is love at first listen, featuring hauntingly-beautiful tracks like “Open The Floodgates“, “The Smoke”, and “Free In the Knowledge.”

As someone who has followed and attended several Radiohead performances over the years, I have learned one thing: given their creativity and craftsmanship, anything created by the band’s members is bound to be special. And for that reason alone, I can safely assure that these shows will be no different. The music on this project, simply put, is timeless. It’s innovative. And it will evoke the strongest of emotions that will leave those who listen speechless and only wanting more. My advice to anyone considering attending one of these shows: buy your ticket now, because the experience will be worth every penny.
