Introducing the world to your sounds can never be an easy task, particularly when you’re dropping more than one track at a time. Nevertheless, it can sometimes be all an artist needs to propel themselves into the limelight, and once you get a listener hooked, they’ll be return customers for life. This week sees house producer Jimmy Le Mac making that bold step when he releases his debut EP on Micropope. Originally born in the UK, Le Mac has been residing Down Under for many years, where he also co-runs Loophole Recordings. In order to begin gaining a following, he gave away a string of free remixes, including Tessela’s “Packney Harrot” and Nick Thayer’s “Worlds Collide.”

For his debut EP, Jimmy released “Down 4 The Ride” this week, a three track series that has seen remarkable pick up already. It progresses through bass and house, with a good dose of electro-tinged energy to keep things fresh. “Do Your Thang” has to be the stand out cut here, with sharp vocals and a deeply rhythmical groove. The title track has been crafted in house style – a head-nodding beat sits astride of a rippling melody. Last but not least comes “I’m Down”, a strongly resonating and quite experimental track with echoes of almost ethereal sounds and off-key riffs.

Jimmy Le Mac has clearly put plenty of time and effort into this EP, and to put it plainly, it shows. Each track has a unique voice and the level of production here is pretty impeccable.
