Last year a party, wait no, a movement was born, and it all started with a group of unsatisfied taste makers. Many can relate to the fact that the club scene in Chicago is often a love and hate relationship due to strict dress codes, high cover, long lines, expensive drinks and just general douchebaggery. Enter #Afterlife, a party with the purpose to simply provide music lovers a place to comfortably and easily enjoy their music. Accompanied with anti establishment vibes, #Afterlife took the city by surprise, quickly becoming “the move” on Saturday nights. The energy was palpable every week till 5am and with heavy industry support the homie vibe was always on point. It gathered steam as big names became interested in the movement including Ron Carrol, Derrick Carter & The Bixel Boys. The event even started hosting larger parties that went till sunrise and beyond.  However, a time came when #Afterlife outgrew the venue it was in and required something bigger, better and most importantly CLOSER, as the current location was a bit off the beaten trail to avoid the strict club aura that encapsulates River North. At this time, #Afterlife went into hibernation to plan a comeback…

Now, it gives me great pleasure to officially announce the return of #Afterlife, starting this Saturday at Annex Night Club in Wicker Park. Formally known as Red Dog, Annex will serve as the new home for #Afterlife on Saturdays running from 10pm to 5am.  The party is set to run weekly as usual and incorporate the same formula that created the brand in the first place: good music, good people, good prices… GoodSex? Sure why not? I am one of the weekly residents along with Kings of Class, DangerWayne and Nikho.  Annex will utilize industry bar tenders and door personal as well as host take over events by select parties and promotion groups. Aside from the local lineups, #Afterlife will be bringing in some big talent from around the globe just as before.

I really am very excited about this party. Saturday nights have become a bit of a wasteland when it comes to events as there are really only a few options that really don’t offer any variety.  Everything has become the same watered down version of The Mid with the only differences being how much money you want to spend and how much rudeness you are willing to deal with. Where you party really doesn’t matter, it’s who you party with. The big clubs in the city only have as much power as we give them. DEMAND SATISFACTION IN LIFE! It is the only way to live. If you don’t like something CHANGE it, ACCEPT it, or MOVE on… anything else is insanity.

#Afterlife returns this SATURDAY. Wow that feels good. Just had to say it one more time.
