Welcome to 4th Weekly Installment of Sunday Spotlights on the Sounds and Sights. Ah, alliteration, I love thee. This week we find ourselves exploring the highs and lows as life as club kid—or at the very least, existence as an intrepid music blogger. This week, I found out that one of my exes is getting married, while I haven’t been on a date in longer than I count on one hand in years.
Which is fine, because I’m a man of adventure, and there is nothing I love more than going to an indie show and throwing myself to the wind in search of rambunctious, rockstar times with the artists themselves or random people I meet. I mean, that’s how I ended up attending a concert in Seattle and through a series of split decisions, spent three days in the Mojave on a ‘spirit search’. Restricted bedtimes demanded by another be damned, the phrases: “Where Are You?” and “Why Aren’t You Home?” aren’t in my lexicon.
But that also got me thinking about both the exhilaration and pitfalls of being a club kid. Which is where this playlist comes in. From ‘feeling the power in someone’s soul to make you lose control’ to ‘getting weak in the knees’ by a charismatic dancer on the floor, to overdoses and trying to clear your mind of the dominating presence of your lover for the night–this playlist tries to cover it all. So, if you revel in the impermanence of human touch, you’ll love this our Spotlights this week.
