THIS TIME: Yeah, I realize I sit in that sad part of myself for a seeming century of seconds until I’m all shouts and shadows sticking their fingers out my must.seem.human.smile. Struggle with seeing myself with a slack face. Not stern cheeks, eyes always searching for the next sound to see my bared teeth like soldiers. I know grandmas saying helloshouldn’t face war.

Perfectionism in happiness makes me somebody you want to see traffic kiss like a motherfucker. Can walk through the darkness missing kneecaps like anatomy is one of those things only assholes worry about. Don’t look at me in the sunlight, I shiver even in my immobile sternum. Some skin cells shook off that underpart of your forearm you never see and I’ll swirl, swirl on the sidewalks in search of them. Feels like I left the house not with a sword, but a pixie stick. My shield, just the strung together bits of popped balloons from someone else’s party. Happiness, you and I are such a mess. Let’s take this STATE OF SOUND as one step in saying sorry for all the warrior face.
