I was completely lost at what exactly the title of this mix was trying to tell me, so thank goodness for 21st century tech like Babel Fish. What I found out were two things. The first is that “Schmetterlingseffekt” translated to “Butterfly Effect” – the title of this 2+ hours of bliss – and second, that this mix is the perfect overture of sound on what seems like the first fall day of Chicago, and it’s brilliantly defined. Mixing in contemporary melodic house with chilled cuts of tracks both new and old (including takes on Howie Day’s “Collide” and Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight”), Germany’s unueberlegt has woven an elegant tapestry of sounds.

Translated from Bing, unueberlegt gives us the behind the scenes story: “With this set I would say thank you [to] a specific person who is always there for me when I need them. She accompanied me for many years through my life has undergone ups and downs with me and even though there were more lows than highs, it was always for me…With this set I wish just a great big thank you.” As it turns out, this ‘specific person’ loves butterflies, hence the title of them mix.
