The four-person dubstep and electronic rock band Modestep will be bringing heavy, rock-inspired dubstep beats to the Sunday North Coast stages in a couple of weeks with their heavy hitting, genre bending sounds. Based out of London, this band formed in 2010 and dropped their first single, “Feel Good,” in February of 2011 along with two other tracks included on their EP.

Comparable to the heavy metal of rock music, much of Modestep’s music style is of a unique and extreme type in the dubstep category; however, some may also consider their genre a progressive-electro/dubstep, in that some of its songs incorporates the heavy bass in a complimentary way that isn’t as overpowering.

Lead singer, Josh Friend, brings powerful and charismatic vocals that mesh perfectly with the band’s vibe along with his skills on the keys. Brother, Tony Friend, is featured on the turntables and guitar as well as Nick Tsang also on the guitar. The fourth member, Matthew Curtis specializes in drums and percussion.

Their 2011 single, “Sunlight,” made it to iTunes’ Top 20 on the pop chart, and their newest single, “Show Me a Sign,” released just 4 months ago, has received over 3,000,000 views on YouTube.
