I almost can’t believe that it took so long for someone to tell the amazing story behind reggae legend Bob Marley, but it’s finally happening. Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald, the brain behind The Last King of Scotland, brings us the story behind the legend whose music transcended cultures and still resonates positivity around the world today.

Filmed with the support of the Marley family, the documentary will feature rare footage, performances and never before seen interviews from the people who knew him best. The film is being dubbed MARLEY, and will make it’s world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival followed by a showing at SXSW. And as a final tip of the hat to the rock star, Magnolia Pictures will release the film theatrically on Friday, April 20th. Happy smoke day.
