In the realm of dance music and electronic producers, there definitely seems to be a theme of this chilled-out, easy-going theme of relaxed beats, slowed down house, and funky/soul/R&B undertones and rhythms. The popularity of vocal edits and vocal samples is truly changing the way beats and instrumental dance tracks are created. There is so much emotion added to a song just by including a short vocal sample that can be looped. When done in the right way, whether they’re pitched up or down, it creates something extremely soulful and comforting.

In the new single “You Were Mine” from East coast producer Figgy, we are welcomed right into his comfy world of downtempo house, garage, and R&B. The track truly defines the soulful dance energy that is present in a few of his previous releases. As a rising producer, Figgy has not only established himself as a thoughtful composer, he also gives us well-crafted remixes and bootlegs that are sure to get you moving and out of your comfort zone. Honing his skills as a resident DJ for Broke City (a long standing monthly party in Brooklyn) Figgy’s sets are said to be stacked with edits and exclusives aimed at the more soulful, groove-based side of dance music. His Missing You EP drops on October 6th and includes three other solid tracks.
