The project of alternative pop musician Alexander Burnett, Australian based Sparkadia has caught the attention of my radar. Formed as a four piece band in Sydney in 2004, Sparkadia has since slimmed down when, in 2009, Alexander decided to take the project solo. I love the ethereal vocals layered over the minimalistic arrangement, giving me this feeling of floating over a sea of tranquil rainbows and clouds. A perfect song for waking up in the morning; full of energy yet still holding it’s calm. Also make sure you check out Sparkadia’s new release, “Mary.” Driving a little harder and a bit more upbeat pop, its a good contrast to “The Great Impression,” showing off a couple of Alexander’s different styles.
