I recently overheard a conversation whilst at Electric Forest Weekend two in which someone said REZZ’s first-weekend set was better than Bassnectar’s.

Now, we all have our opinions and we certainly all know what it’s like to disagree with someone else’s, but disregard opinions for a moment and consider this sentence.

This is a *huge* statement.

Bassnectar is an insanely established artist. Upon Electric Forest he had ten studio albums under his belt.

Comparisons happen all the time in music. Sometimes they can really be a shame. Unoriginal. Uninspired. Whatever. But this comparison, really more of an insight-lacking compliment, was surely one the 22-year-old would not have been upset by in its regards to artistry. (She’s publically expressed her love for Nectar and his influence).

Regardless of whether you like Nectar or REZZ more, (and I am not suggesting they should compete for your love), the statement is telling of the young female artist’s potential. Especially being that a debut album is still looming around the corner.

In a recent take to Twitter REZZ described the forthcoming debut album as such,

Mass Manipulation is out August 4th and is set to include eight tracks, featuring impressive collaborations that will showcase the mind-bending style her cult-like fanbase has come to know and love.
