The Festival Seeks To Fuse Music With Its Visual Counterpart

Day For Night Festival has released their 2017 lineup. The bill features headliners Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, and Houston’s very own Solange. The festival has set out to “[explore] the deep connections between light, technology, sound and space.” Festival founder Omar Afra conceived the idea for the festival in order to create an experience that reintroduces visual art back into the music festival sphere. Other names on the bill include French Electro-House duo Justice, incendiary baroque pop star St. Vincent, Odd Future ringleader Tyler, the Creator, London based soul singer James Blake, and dream pop meets contemporary rock duo Phantogram.

The festival struck gold in the electronic sphere with Justice. The French House DJ Duo have played a number of shows at festivals this summer, and their set is sure to be nothing short of excellent at this years Day For Night Festival. However, the real diamonds in the rough this year are Pretty Lights and Jamie XX. The former will bring his own funk-hop EDM smoothie of samples spanning decades of music history to Houston. Jamie XX, on the other hand, will be bringing his own recipe of garage influenced sonic ballads to the festival.

The festival features a plethora of visual artists and speakers including Ryoji Ikeda, Matthew Schreiber, James Clar, and many more. So, where will you be when light, sound, and human emotion coalesce into a singular fleeting moment in time?
