While I have never seen the HBO series ‘Girls,’ and probably don’t intend to, I have to give props to the team who put together the soundtrack for the show. We just wrote about the Fun. track that is making an appearance on the album, and along with artists such as Santigold, Fleet Foxes, and Icona Pop, this is stacking up to be a solid lineup.

I was little skeptical when I first saw this Rolling Stones cover, despite the fantastic artists involved in producing the track. There’s just something about the original recordings that hold more truth and pain and soul because the artists were actually experiencing those emotions in their lives. However, my pensiveness was relieved shortly after hitting play. Although no match to the bluesy rasp of Mick Jagger, Tegan and Sara‘s vocals have an earthiness that toes the lines between tender child and slightly damaged rock star. RAC does a great job of modernizing the the 1976 rock ballad while still keeping the soulful feel of the original. You can buy the track on iTunes here if you’re liking what you hear.
