“We’re living out the back of the car!”
Summertime is upon us and long live the soaring stompers of freedom and shouting loud. Why the fuck not? After all. Freedom is to be had on the West Coast, I can assure you (except for those who don’t have it). So we pluck on for life’s next adventure, and nothing spells adventure like s-u-m-m-e-r. So we chase, often at the end of our means, for that endless season – because what is money in the end but another means to keep you from freedom?
Venice is a confluence of dreamers and dragon chasers, and there’s no shortage of characters living life on their terms. So it’s appropriate then, that “Back Of The Car” is particularly in tune with this slice of sand and pavement. I took this idea to the streets, and snapped a few photos on a recent walk around the city. As you enjoy the sounds of RAC‘s latest track below, feel free to scroll through a selection of photos of cars I think people are living in the back of.
Andre Anjos (RAC) spent several months writing the single with collaborator and long time friend, Nate Henricks, eventually recording at Battlestation Studios in Portland, OR.
“This song means a lot of different things to me,” says Anjos. “It’s about freedom, about growing up, about returning to my roots. Nate is a true artist and I’m lucky to work with him!”
