In anticipation of his sixth studio album, From Here to Now to You, laid-back beach bum and father of three, Jack Johnson, has released the mellowed out, acoustic single “I Got You.” While his last album found him coping with the death of his father from cancer, From Here to Now to You sees Jack crooning about coming into his role as family man and father figure.

While that sounds like it might be an easier subject to write about, Jack tells a different story. “The stuff that’ll give you paranoia right about now, is, ‘Is it too personal?'” he tells Rolling Stone. “That’s been a balance I’ve had to find through the whole process of sharing these songs.”

And while this seems to be in complete contrast to the chilled-out beach vibes we’ve become accustomed to from the singer/songwriter, those breezy, summer sounds are still ever present in his music, if not just a bit more matured.
