As I was going through my daily ritual of perusing the Soundcloud I came upon this absolutely fantastic preview of Modestep‘s new single “Time” off their upcoming debut album Evolution Theory. Now I usually wouldn’t have posted just a preview of the song on here as I usually like to wait for the whole track to drop, but in this case I had to introduce you to the new sounds of Modestep.

While it’s just a preview, “Time” showcases sounds that Modestep fans might not necessarily recognize. Highlighting Josh Friend’s vocals (which I have to admit I didn’t know he had the range he does in the track), “Time” finds the UK 4-piece slowed down to the point of rock ballad-esque type territory. As Josh’s vocals begin to soar, we hear the echoing moans of that sweet electric guitar rise up in the background to meet him. Such a different sound from the group and I’m really digging it.
