CRSSDII

As if the lineup for CRSSD wasn’t good enough already, the producers of this forward-thinking, San Diego-based festival recently made a surprise phase II artist announcement. The new additions (above image), including veterans Harvard Bass and Amtrac, join a talent-rich roster that includes Maceo Plex, Empire of the Sun, Pete Tong and Thomas Jack. On their social media accounts, CRSSD teased anxious fans on about a ‘cherry on top’ through mysterious poems that hinted at the artists to be announced (quite a nice touch, I might add) at the beginning of this week:

“The final ten are coming
They’re only moments away
There’s one crosstown rebel
And a touch of DFA
Sprinkle some Dirtybird
A bit of Miami daze
One turtle on acid
And some local bass
A future classic from Oz
A Norwegian with green
One Haitian born talent
And a Kentucky train”

CRSSD Festival is the newcomer to spring festival season this year, but its producers surely are not. Production company Goldenvoice, of Coachella fame, teamed up with SoCal production company FNGRS CRSSD, dance club Bang Bang, Sound Nightclub, Mixmag and even Pete Tong himself to create a two-day event inspired by festivals such as Sonar and BPM.
It steers far away from mainstream sounds one will find at many other EDM events, catering to the more eclectic and underground side of dance music. Coupled with its oceanfront location in “America’s finest city,” the affordable $85 starting price, a spirits mixologist program, and local craft food vendors, CRSSD is set to be one of the premiere events of spring 2015.
