Music and grief collide as Kaptan opens up about loss and coming out on the other side.

I can’t believe it’s over – it’s getting hard to move.

Move on move forward.

I can’t.

I can rest easy knowing the hardest part for you is done, but it has just begun for me.

When those close to us pass on to the next ‘thing’ – whatever you believe it to be – expressing the grief, loss, confusion, fear, every emotion simultaneously, can be a challenge.

“This particular song is much different than anything I’ve done for this project. I lost my mother a few years ago and wrote this song about that. It’s definitely a little darker, sadder, but it’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written,” says Kaptan on writing “Hardest Part”.

Music is the great consoler, I believe. Where words fail, music flourishes.
