Mija’s debut EP ‘How to Measure the Distance Between Lovers’ lets listeners get to know the real Amber Giles.

EDM has known the name Mija for a few years, though her fame has often been associated with other industry power players, the first being Skrillex. The Phoenix-born, LA-based producer has been on the rise since her 2014 breakthrough, creating eclectic bangers that defy all genre laws and practices.

Mija is now entering a beautiful stage of the craft by releasing her deeply personal EP, How to Measure the Distance Between Lovers.

The EP serves as a milestone for her musical career, as it is her both her vocal debut as well as her first full body of work.

In November, Mija shared the track, “Bad For U” feat. Kelli Schaefer, followed by her second single “Notice Me,” released last week. “Notice Me” is a particular standout so far, as it features guiding pianowork, paired with Mija’s raw storytelling vocals, making the song feel almost like a spoken word diary. Both tracks uncloak a side of Mija that perhaps has been teased before, but has never been fully revealed to fans until now.

The last few months have generated well-deserved hype for the intimate composition that is How to Measure the Distance Between Lovers. The eight-track EP is step away from the dance-heavy hits Mija has released prior, but a step in an introspective and rather intriguing direction.
