[DANCE] Kylie Minogue – “SKIRT” Remixes
It’s no secret that Roc-a-fella Records’ newest member is none other than Australian pop megastar, Kylie Minogue. Since February of this year, the high-profile label that’s home to other big name pop divas such as Rihanna and Shakira, has been highly publicizing its newest member all over social media and American TV. Rumor has it, label head Jay-Z is a fan and has scooped Kylie up at the request of his wife, Beyonce, who urged the pop veteran to come on board after she ended her 25 year-old relationship with former manager, Terry Blamey. Amidst multiple reports that the former cancer survivor has been working with big name producers such as Pharrell Williams, Chris Lake, Darkchild, Tommy Trash, and Jay-Z, himself, fans have eagerly been awaiting new music.
On May 28th, the day Kylie turned 45 years-old, she quietly released “SKIRT.” Drawing mixed reactions amongst new and old fans alike, it has still been unconfirmed whether the single is the lead track from the new album, one of the many recorded songs that will not be included on the album itself, or a mere promotional tool to kick off the album campaign.
Fast forward to less than a month later and a slew of remixes produced by “of the moment” producers such as GTA and Hot Mouth, amongst others, appear as an exclusive on Beatport. Although, the original is a bit choppy and doesn’t truly take off until the chorus, the club-ready reworks are worth a listen. Whether a new management deal and a new style will propel Kylie back to the top of global charts is an unknown at this point; however, you can’t blame her for not taking risks and trying new things.
